View Full Version : How come I can't get an avatar?

I have tried many times (Using the User CP) to get an avatar but the system doesn't let me assign one. After I go to save one it comes back with 'Foreign Hosts can not assign avatar" or something similar. I've noticed that at least 2 new members had an avatar immediately so I am puzzled. Thanks for any help.

Hi there my name is Lisa. I can try to help to the best I can. The only thing I can think of is that you have these words at the top of the screen when you come in:

Avatars are small graphics that are displayed under your username whenever you post.
Do not use an avatar(If you have this selected and you save changes your avitar will not appear when you exit this selection....)
Note: if you have a custom avatar selecting this option will delete it.

Just make sure you have selected to use an avatar and of course save your changes. If none of this works there might be an error else where. Let me know.

Lisa I select an avatar (which turns off selection of Do Not Show Avatar) and click Save changes which gives me "Posts from foreign hosts is not allowed". This is done under the "Change Avatar" Under "User CP" I checked "Change options" which shows "Show Avatars" is selected. (Also under "User CP") Frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! (However I still love "Betty")

oooh thats such a shame!!
So you go no User CP - Change avatar - make sure you select one - no box is ticked saying 'No avatar' and click save!

Thanks so much for responding to my question ooohlala. What you said to do was exactly what I had been doing.
I tried again and THIS TIME I could select an avatar. It seems an administrator must have changed something in system after reading my post.

Anyhow, THANKS AGAIN!

I am so sorry you were having problems selecting an avatar.
It was nothing on your fault, something to do with the site I am sure.
Welcome to the forum and I like your choice of avatar!!! :D

It's great, you were able to get your Avatar. Nothing was done by the admins. You must've missed a step earlier.

Mgchan,

I see you finally picked an avatar after how long being here at the site w/o one!! I like yours these new ones are great. You can actually know info about the person even with out chattin with them. IE, if you share the same month of birh or so forth!!:)

I own a hat and boots too Candles and I also ride a tractor (as well as my Harley.. LOL) So I'm part cow girl, farm girl and biker girl... hahaha

:cool: Unfortunateley i dont have the excitement of being a cow girl or a farm girl all though there are plenty of farms in britain!!!i do sing though!!i love music!!!
