I have a Betty boop doll that is jointed, and made of either wood or Bisque I think? I am not sure of the year. I will include a picture as an attachment to this post. She is hand painted, and has a red dress with a small black heart on the right side of it. As well as a red heart on a black garder belt on her right side. Other than those few features she looks exactly like the 1930s Betty Boop Doll From the Gary Selmonsky collection. (which had a Heart-shaped decal on front reads "Betty Boop/Des. & Copyright By Fleischer Studios." Painted composition head and body with scattered tiny hairlines visible under closest inspection. ) But I was told MY betty boop doll may be from a later year, maybe 1970 or newer? Also she does not stand on her own, but you can move her legs and arms easily, she sits fine. If anyone can give me any information about this doll AT ALL!! (Especially her value) It would be much appreciated.

I thought it might be from 1930s but some tend to think 1970s. Do you know anything about this perticular doll?

Hi gg61612,
While this is a very nice doll, it is 1980s era. If you will look, there are several features that are different:
1. The eyebrows are curved, rather than 'S' shaped.
2. The arms are attached to the body different, and the joints are different.
3. Same with the legs - different joints.
4. The hands extend below the dress, the original they end at the dress.
5. Eyes are different, as well as the shape of the nose and mouth.
6. There is a garter painted - none on the original.
If you will look in my book, you will see several pictures of the versions of the original doll and you'll be able to see the differences. Unfortunately there is not a picture of this doll, but it was done in the early 1980s.
As far as value, well, I wouldn't expect more than $100-$200 for it, but you never know.

p.s.
You mentioned it might be bisque or wood.....it would be useful to know which, and if it is bisque, look for a signature or initials at her neck. I could not tell from the picture.
