Hey Fellow Boopers;
I think this is a nice and clean look of BB. When I was on e-bay there where at least three items of our BB nude, NOT COOL!!! But this is nice and clean. I will purchase one for my collection. Plus My son just went to a Hooters for the first time last week for a bachalor party, he wasn't impressed. But anyway, it will a unique addition to my collection and clothes. I let everyone know when I get it.
Always BOoping,
Betty :)

Anytime you see unlicensed Betty Boop items, let me know at mchan@hearst.com.
These are very nice Lapel Pins. Hooter's is really a family oriented restaurant.

Hooter's is really a family oriented restaurant.
FAMILY ORIENTED??!!
The restaurant is called "HOOTERS”...pause for response...check out their tagline. here, I'll save you the time..."Delightfully Tacky and Unrefined!" That tagline to me doesn't say "Family oriented". I get it, it's fun, men can go there to eat wings and gawk at women. Fine, but I wouldn't go as far to say "family oriented". My husband and I both agree, we'd never take our family to a resturant like this.
With that said, does the web site look like it is really family oriented? It is full of women with big chests in bikinis. What's next, a Maxim magazine spread with Betty in it? Tell me, do you think that people that created Betty could have ever approved Betty to be equated with a company like Hooters? When I think of Hooters I don't think of "wide-eyed inocence" like I do Betty, I think of clever marketing in a D-cup.
mgchan
08-03-2005, 05:30 AM
Sorry, I beg to differ. It's no different than what you see on the beach, in the summer or in G & PG rated movies. Not all of the women are "big-chested," and they wear t-shirts and shorts. Do you wear shorts and a t-shirt or a tank top when it's hot? I'm sure most people wear them. I do and so does my wife and daughter. In fact Disney and Walmart sells t-shirts and shorts. Yes, I agree there's clever marketing here, but families with children do go in there and eat.

Wow awesome badges! I want one :)

One more thing, "family oriented" may have been the wrong choice of words. I was trying to imply that the restaurant allows families and it's not a strip/dance joint as some perceive it.
Here's a bit from their site:
The casual beach-theme establishments feature '50s & '60s jukebox music, sports on television, and a menu that includes seafood, sandwiches, salads and spicy chicken wings. Hooters, system-wide, generates and averages 72% of its sales from food, 5% from merchandise, and 23% from beer and wine. Notably, Hooters does not serve liquor.
The element of female *** appeal is prevalent in the restaurants, and the company believes the Hooters Girl is as socially acceptable as a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader, Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, or Radio City Rockette. The Hooters system employs over 25,000 people - over 15,000 of which are Hooters Girls. The "nearly world famous" Hooters Girls are the cornerstone of the Hooters concept, and as part of their job, these all-American cheerleaders make promotional and charitable appearances in their respective communities. Hooters hires women who best fit the image of a Hooters Girl to work in this capacity. The chain hires both males and females to work in management and host, staff, service bar, and kitchen positions. The Hooters Girl uniform consists of orange shorts and a white tank top, short-sleeve or long-sleeve T-shirt. Pantyhose and bras are required.
Claims that Hooters exploits attractive women are as ridiculous as saying the NFL exploits men who are big and fast. Hooters Girls have the same right to use their natural female *** appeal to earn a living as do super models Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell. To Hooters, the women's rights movement is important because it guarantees women have the right to choose their own careers, be it a Supreme Court Justice or Hooters Girl.
Women occupy management positions all the way from Vice President of Training and Development, Kat Cole, who started her career at Hooters as a Hooters Girl.
The chain acknowledges that many consider "Hooters" a slang term for a portion of the female anatomy. Hooters does have an owl inside its logo and uses an owl theme sufficiently to allow debate to occur over the meaning's intent. The chain enjoys and benefits from this debate. In the end, we hope Hooters means a great place to eat.
Hooters characterizes itself as a neighborhood place, not a typical family restaurant. Sixty-eight percent of customers are male, most between the ages of 25-54. Hooters does not market itself to families, but they do patronize the restaurants. Ten percent of the parties we serve have children in them. Hooters is in the hospitality business and provides the best possible service to anyone coming through the door. For this reason, the chain offers a children's menu.
You can read more about Hooters here: http://www.hooters.com/company/about_hooters/

I would love to have one of these pins as well!!
Can't wait until they go on sale!
Just for the record:
I have been to "family restaurants" and the waitresses there have just about the same amount of clothing on as a waitress at Hooters does.

Hooters has recruited the oldest Hooters Girl who will begin sporting the famous uniform this spring. Unveiled at the Hooters International Swimsuit Pageant in Miami, Betty Boop is the newest addition to Hooters lapel pin collection.
Featuring 10 designs on beautifully crafted lapel pins, the Betty Boop series has all the va-va-va-voom imaginable and is sure to become a quick favorite with collectors. "The thing that excited us the most was the great interest from the Betty Boop people - they knew it was a match made in heaven," said Frazier. "They also understood that Betty sure would do the Hooters Girl uniform justice."
And so she has done the well-known uniform justice - whether riding a variety of motorcycles, mooning over Hootie the Owl or just striking a pose. Each pin design artfully combines Betty Boop's personality with a Hooters Girl's fun-loving attitude. Not bad for someone around since the 1930 when she was created by Max Fleischer and introduced in the animated short "Dizzy Dishes." Since then, Betty Boop has made quite a career for herself starring in movies, commercials and even being the subject of an A&E "Biography" (she was the first cartoon character to earn that distinction). Now that her career path has taken a new turn, Hooters of American execs couldn't be more thrilled.
"Our newest Hooters Girl is 75 years old," said Hooters Vice President of Marketing Mike McNeil. "She's an all-American icon of beauty and humor. If she walked into one of our restaurants today, I'm sure we'd hire her."
While she won't be available to deliver the world's best chicken wings to hungry diners, Betty Boop can be found in display cases at Hooters locations throughout the country. Her series will bring the total number of Hooters Collectible Lapel Pins to 357. Like the popular "Seven Year Itch" Hooters pins, the Betty Boop designs are not likely to stay in the stores long. But as Hooters new "spokeswoman," Betty Boop will hopefully stick around another 75 years or so.

Hey Fellow Boopers,
Well, since I was not lucky to win the Hooter Pins, I went on-line and found within the Hooter Corp. where I could purchase the pins. And we did contact and I bought 2 pins. They were only $4.95 ea. plus my shipping from Georgia.
There are 8 in the collection but I thought 2 would be enough. I should be getting them within this week, oh, my collection is going to love this. I will check with this company again to see if I could release the information to all the other boopers who would like a pin, so I will let everyone soon.

Hi Fellow Boopers,
When I ordered my pins the young lady asked me to choose one out of 8 styles. And since I could not see my choices and the price per pin was only $4.95. I gave her permission to pick the two I would like and we had a small chat. I recieved BB sitting on the Hooter Logo and the other is BB bending over a paint can getting ready to paint the Hooter logo. Plus at only took a few days to get them. I'm still trying to figure out where I'm going to put my pins, in the car, on coat, at work, just don't have a clue.

Thanks, Theresa. Hooters is new and wasn't there yet when I was last in Vegas last Sept. I believe it is on Tropicana essentially right next to the Tropicana Hotel-Casino. That means it is on a side street right off the strip (Las Vegas Blvd.) The Trop. Hotel is on the corner of Tropicana and Las Vegas Blvd. (AN IDEAL LOCATION!!!!!!!!)
It will be as always a fun and relaxing trip. I love it there. As I've said several times here, Marsha & I know Vegas as a 2nd home.
Oh, I believe the Hooters there has 7 restaurants of which Marsha and I plan on eating at at least 1. I am a member of The Las Vegas Advisor which wrote up the openning of Hooters.

Wow thanks for sharing this great information!!! Like I've said before, Las Vegas is a great place to visit just not a place I'd like to live in anymore.
So you and Marsha are pretty involved in Las Vegas activities... good for you.
I think it would be a great place to have a Betty Boop convention (I would prefer Laughlin but I know Vegas would probably draw a better attendance than Laughlin)
Maybe someday I'll get the time and money to put one together.

Mybe in some way we could all help. Laughlin is OK too. We also like that but much prefer Las Vegas. Laughlin is much slower paced and much less expensive. (There isn't much to spend money on in the first place)

WE like Laughlin because it is only 150 miles from our house to Casino Drive. So it only takes 2 1/2 hours for us to drive there... if we go to Las Vegas it's another 2 hours cause there just isn't any shortcut to get there from here.
If enough people are interested in Laughlin, I'd be willing to work on that location. What do you think?

But you can drive between Laughlin and Las Vegas in 1 1/2 hours (max).
Trouble is Vegas is easy to fly into. Laughlin isn't. But I'm ok with Laughlin. (And not Bull Head City on the AZ side)

I hate that drive between Vegas and Laughlin... when I lived in Vegas, I was in sales and I had to make that drive every week... I'd fly too but there's no place close by to fly from... so we prefer to drive to Laughlin.. since it's only 150 miles.
