Hi Boopers;
I ran into Steven Tyler last night at Mount Blue, a club he owns on Boston's South Shore.
As most of you know, Steven is the singer for Aerosmith.
Seeing Steven inspired me to put the Aerosmith LP "Done With Mirrors" on my turntable. ( You can tell it is an older album since they don't put out LP's anymore. This was not one of their best selling albums and does not get much airplay. )
The Song "My Fist Your Face" contains the line
"Hey Betty Boop you got me droolin'
I'm Buzzin round your hive tonight"
I can't think of another major rock n roll band with a Betty Boop reference.
If you get a chance to see the Aerosmith edition of MTV's "Behind the Music" you will see Steven onstage in Tokyo with a Betty Boop T Shirt. ( She is wearing camouflage pants with "Girls Rule" emblazoned on the back.

Hi There;
Just a quick reminder. Boston's own Aerosmith has a new album coming out today. It is called "Honkin on Bobo".
That is a old blues phrase. They were not sure what it meant but when someone said it was somewhat risque they said "Let's use it."
The album is filled with Blues Cover songs. Done up in rock n roll versions. I heard most of it on the radio and it is great.
They are touring with Cheap Trick and I will be in attendance when they make their homecoming in June.
John
P. S. - Eric Clapton has a blues album coming out today too. "Me and Mr. Johnson" This of course refers to Robert Johnson, a blues legend. The whole album is a tribute to his music.

Hi There;
I have to set the record Straight. I do not know Steven Tyler. I have seen Aerosmith a number of times but have not spoken to Steven.
I was at a club ( it must have been about twenty years ago now ) and bumped into Ron Pownall who has done alot of the Rock N Roll photography over the years. I was talking to him both for tips ( I would bring my camera to the shows ) and to hear his stories. After a few minutes Tom Hamilton ( Aerosmith Bass Player ) comes by to say hello to Ron and he introduced me. By the way he was wearing a Cheap Trick T Shirt. They are together this summer.I saw Tom shopping one time at a department store but decided to leave him alone. They probably cannot go anywhere without being bugged. I saw him another time at a Charity event.
I met Joe Perry ( guitarist ) a few years ago too. He had just left Aerosmith and made a personal appearance to sign copies of his new LP from the Joe Perry Project.
( For you youngsters the LP is made out of vinyl. It was what we bought before they came out with the CD. For a while they sold both. The First Rock N Roll CD was Bruce Springsteen's Born in the USA. The first album to be released only on CD ( no vinyl ) was Phil Collins' No Jacket Required )
I have spoken to Joey Kramer ( drummer ) and Brad Whitford (guitarist) just for a moment to say that I was glad to see that Aerosmith had reunited.
I saw Steven at Mount Blue, the club that Aerosmith owns. www.mountblue.com My friends were performing that night.
I was actually sitting next to him for a little while ( his table was next to our table ) but he moved to a better table.
My friend thanked Steven and Jack Douglas ( producer ) for sticking around. He referred to Steven as Rock N Roll Royalty.

Oh that sounds like so much fun BBooper that you get to sing along with your dad and he's teaching your sis how to play.
Don has been trying to teach me how to play for years and years but I'm so uncoordinated and it's hard but I keep trying! I wish I'd learned when I was younger. Don started playing when he was 9 years old and so he's had a lot of years to play.
Was your dad young when he learned to play too?

The Aerosmith Concert which was aired on A & E network is now available on DVD titled "You Gotta Move" The DVD contains five songs that were not aired due to time constraints. A bonus CD ( six song audio from the same show ) is included.
This was released in November. There are two different DVD's. One includes the Parental Advisory label. There is an edited version available as well.

Yes. That song "I don't want to miss a thing" was recorded by Aerosmith for the Armageddon Soundtrack. This is not your typical Aerosmith Rock N Roll song. This ballad was written by Diane Warren.
Liv Tyler, daughter of Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler was one of the co-stars of Armageddon. You have seen her more recently in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
You have also seen Liv's mom on the big screen. She was the inspiration for Penny Lane in the movie "Almost Famous" her charachter was portrayed by Kate Hudson.

Since we live in Aerosmith's backyard we have had a number of Aerosmith sightings.
While on haitus from Aerosmith we saw the Joe Perry Project quite often in th eighties ( who remembers when Aerosmith featured Jimmy Crespo and Rick Dufay on guitar ). I met him at a record store at a promotion where he was signing his albums ( tells you how long ago that was - LPs ) I was psyched when he asked for my phone number as he wanted some copies of the photo I had taken of him. ( He never called )
I was introduced to bass player Tom Hamilton by Aerosmith photographer when I was at a show of another local band.
I also saw Tom at a charity event hosted by Tom and his wife.
I saw guitarist Brad Whitford with the Whitford St. Holmes band ( tiny crowd ) This was while he briefly left Aerosmith.
I got to see Steven ( sat right next to him - different tables ) when my buddies band played at the restaurant owned by Aerosmith (Mount Blue). My buddy told him that his band opened for Aerosmith years ago when they played at his high school ( tells you how long ago that was - Aerosmith playing concerts at High Schools ) The next time I was at Mount Blue we were greeted by Steven's daughter who was employed as the hostess.
My friend Mary recently flipped out when Steven Tyler called her to sing "Happy Birthday to you". ( Mary's husband Tony works at the local Harley dealer and works on Steven's motorcycle. )

Aerosmith fans - Do not despair because Aerosmith is on Hiatus.
Joe Perry is putting out his first solo album in years.
The name of the album............ Joe Perry
Unlike the first two solo Joe Perry albums ( The Joe Perry Project ) Joe will be doing the vocals himself. ( Joe said Steven has nothing to worry about. ) I recently spoke to a mutual friend who tells me that Joe has been secretive about the musicians who are backing him up on this album ( bass, drums ) so we will have to wait to find out.
Joe will not be touring to support this album but we are hopeful he will do a couple gigs here in his hometown of Boston.
The single from the album is "Shakin' My Cage"
Joe will cover the Doors "Crystal Ship" on this disc. He will also cover Woody Guthrie's "Vigilante Man"

Joe Perry will be performing at Harpers Ferry in Boston on Monday May 2nd.
Tickets will go on sale Thursday morning (Apr 28th) at 10 AM
www.harpersferryboston.com
The Band includes the former guitarist from Black Crowes ( I did not catch the name and since there are several guitarist I will not guess ( no not Rich Robinson ) Charley Drayton will be the bass player. Charley was a member of Paul Shaffer's band on the David Letterman show. He was also a member of Keith Richard's X-Pensive Winos.
Joe Perry will be signing copies of his new CD at Newbury Comics 332 Newbury Street in Boston from 6 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday, the day the CD goes on sale. When you buy a CD earlier in the day you will be given a wristband. Those with wristbands will be given a spot in line to meet Joe Perry.
For those who cannot make it to Harpers Ferry on Monday, Joe will perform on Late Night with Conan O'Brien on Thursday May 5th.

Steven has been working on the DVD while Joe was working on his solo album.

I did not attend the show but saw highlights on the news. Aerosmith Bass Player Tom Hamilton sat in with the Flutie Brothers at a charity event.
The Flutie Brothers are a cover band but they are more famous for their prowess on the football field.
Drummer Doug was the QB for Boston College, he had a great college career and won the Heisman Trophy as the best player in the country his senior year. He was a Superstar in the Canadian Football League ( won the MVP award a record six times ) He played with the Chicago Bears, Our New England Patriots , Buffalo Bills , San Diego Chargers and just signed for a second tour of duty with the Patriots as back up to Tom Brady for the upcoming season.
Guitarist Darren followed Doug to BC where he was catching Doug's passes, he also played the the CFL with Doug and played in the NFL as well.
I caught part of Doug and Darren's basketball team yesterday at the local gym after I finished playing raquetball. Doug did not play as he might have a clause in his NFL contract. (Aaron Boone from the Yankees missed a season due to an offseason basketball injury. ) Last time I checked Doug was leading the league in scoring and Darren was third.
I might have to head over to Harper's Ferry in hopes of catching Tom Hamilton with the Flutie Brothers later this month.
