It is possible afriend of ours had an accident and broke his leg. He had to have it opened and aplate put in which has caused a bad scar so he is having his leg done in a tatoo.

yes...i want to get one to cover up some bruising that will never go away...on my leg....its looks nasty and i am so embarressed by it

livingbooper

Yes, it is possible to cover some scars with tattoos. Body art is all the rage these days, isn't it? I just got my first tatoo... it's in a discreet place. It's a Betty Boop tattoo of course! I created it from a Betty Boop image over another flaming heart image and it turned out quite nice. I'm very pleased with it.

BBooper
05-11-2005, 03:36 PM
that is quite a clever way to hit a scar!

Well, I started this topic because, someone told me that they had some veins that had started showing (varicose) superficially, and a tattoo was used to camouflage the veins.
The varicose veins are grapevines and there is some type of tattoo that is used to make a large clump of grapes falling off of the (varicose veins) vines with the background of a waterfall near a barbed wire fence or something.

They were going to show it to me...but never got around to it. However, it was done, to hide an "ugly scar" as it was termed.

I had never heard of that before...but I guess that is a great idea!

That sounds very artistic lol, why didn't they just have their varicose veins stripped out?

I have never heard of anyone getting a tatoo to cover up scars.
That is an interesting way to do it, I guess.

I remember reading a couple of years ago, that this woman had a VERY bad skin disorder. Instead of showing how bad her skin was, she decided to cover her whole body in tattoos! She even covered her head and face aswell, because her hair had fallen out caused by the disorder.
I also remember seeing a Betty Boop tattoo on her!!

I think she is very brave!

Yeh.....but i must say i wouldnt go to the extreme of covering my WHOLE body! :o

livingbooper
05-16-2005, 01:38 PM
No, I wouldn't either. I think that they should be located in discreet places on a lady. I don't like people covered in them, male or female....
But I have heard of people covering up scars with them.
I have a burn scar on one of my legs and it was suggested to me that I could cover it with a tattoo. It was a fun idea, but the scar is on my calf and a tattoo would be too visible and I don't think it would look nice if I were to wear a short skirt.

Betty Boop.7
05-16-2005, 02:24 PM

I always wonder about these people that get a whole body of tatoos when they are young. How will they feel about it when they are like 60 or 70 years old?
Not something I would want to do.
I do want a tatoo but not all over my body.

Betty Boop.7
05-16-2005, 04:07 PM
I've got a Japanese symbol at the bottom of my back that means 'energy'. I wanted the symbol from when I was 14. When I was about 20 I actually got it. The reason why I waited so long was because I wanted to make sure that I REALLY wanted it.
Since I was about 18 I've wanted another Japanese symbol that is the meaning of my name (which is the same meaning as my boyfriends) at the top of my back going slightly up my neck.
I'm starting to get itchy feet now, so it won't be long before I get it!!!

Betty Boop.7
05-16-2005, 04:08 PM
By the way I'll be 22 soon, so I've waited a long time again!

bettyboopfan
05-16-2005, 04:14 PM
I like tatoos and wouldn't mind getting one, but I am such a chicken.

I just don't see what makes people want to get their WHOLE body tatooed!!
OUCH, OUCH, OUCH!!!

That's cute. But.... it has a lot of detail. I learned that the more detail there is, thie bigger it has to be... So if you want a small one, I'm afraid that you'll need to find a simpler image... Mine ended up bigger than I'd originally planned...

I thought I would modify it some.
I basically just want her, I don't care too much about having the name or her standing over the air vent.
I was going to have it on the side of my lower leg, right above my ankle.
Hopefully it wouldn't be to big!

Thank you, BettyBoop464! I am planning my next one too....

livingbooper
05-18-2005, 02:32 PM
Thanks, BettyBoopfan!
It is on my lower back. The design kind of decided its placement. My next one will be much smaller.

If you keep yours as simple as you can I'm sure the artist can scale it down...

livingbooper
05-18-2005, 02:39 PM
Betty Boop.7 you can supply your own artwork to the artist. There are tons of BB images online that you can download. Just remember to keep your design simple. I created my design out of two images, modifying both and then combining them on my computer. I guess you could say that mine is totally unique. My Betty image came fron a decal that I scanned... this image seemed perfect to incorporate into my design... Originally I wanted to use the image of Biker Betty on her motorcycle, but then I realized that the design was too complicated.

Good luck with your search! :)

Thank you BBooper!
You know that I've been talking about getting it done for the last couple of years....
I'm so happy that I got brave enough to do it!
Honestly, I think all that it took was the right design to motivate me. Once I created it I knew I was ready to put it on!

My next one will be on my shoulder I think... perhaps a winking Betty....

bettyboopfan
05-18-2005, 05:48 PM
The shoulder I heard was a good place to put tats.
They say it doesn't hurt there.
My mom got a horse on her shoulder and she said it didn't hurt at all.

I might think about the shoulder. There you could keep it covered up and not worry about it showing if you didn't want it to.

livingbooper
05-18-2005, 09:24 PM
Yes, I like the tattoos to be discreet....
Mine hurt a little because it was in a tender spot, but if I could put that large one there, I can have it put almost anywhere! LOL! The only way to see mine is if I were to wear a bikini... my boyfriend is the only one to see it on me!

bettyboopfan
05-18-2005, 11:03 PM
I like a discreet tat too. That is why I was thinking on my lower leg that way socks or pants would cover it if I needed it to be. I am not sure about the back....ouch! I agree that is a tender spot!

Bikerbettyboop
05-19-2005, 04:01 PM

Neckless
07-11-2005, 11:16 PM
Hehehe. They are called "pain freaks".

Why else get piercings all over your face and inside your mouth and through your eyebrows, nipples, navel, etc.

Or...the type who wants to be beaten with belts or wet ropes.

Here's a little excerpt from the link posted below.

Why is pain so exciting to sadists and masochists? What is it about the sensation that works for us? Is it the sensation itself...the ritual...the control... the anticipation? All of the above?

One thing I've observed is that pain means different things to different people. For example, some submissives are also serious masochists and they seem to experience physical pain as physical pleasure.

Go here BBfan...

That's awesome ...... i was thinking the same thing Neckless because i have some stretchmarks on my lower back.....and i have been thinking of having one of those lower back tattoos alot of girls are getting these days......but i'm not sure.... do you think it's a good idea ???........ i havent gotten the guts to pierce my tongue either because of my parents......i'm 18 some friends say i dont need their permission anymore but i will still feel bad if my parents got mad or i dissapointed them........ :(

I think it's great if you can stand the discomfort. I don't believe stretchmarks don't go away completely...if you and your parents have a good enough relationship to discuss it FIRST...hey! Go for it!

i havent gotten the guts to pierce my tongue either because of my parents......i'm 18 some friends say i dont need their permission anymore but i will still feel bad if my parents got mad or i dissapointed them........
Well...you know your parents better than any of us Boopers here. You know what their expectations are of you and I would discuss this with them too! Just jump in and tell them what you are contemplating...and DUCK! (No just joking). But tell them what your thoughts are and ask them how they feel about it. You're 18 and you'll be 20 pretty soon...but obviously, you value and respect their opinions. You're one of the few who thinks: "What will my parents think"?

I was like you as a young girl too! I cared what my parents thought, valued their intelligence and opinions and didn't want to disappoint them.

one of my parents recognized how my computer was Booped and the clocks in my classroom were Booped and even my "Hall Pass" is booped...so she mentioned ...well I see we have one thing in common. I asked what is that and she leaned down and pullud her pant leg up and there was Betty Boop...on her lower leg...standing on that fan in the ground, with her dress blowing up.
It was toooo cute. I nearly screamed...but I had to keep my composure!

After the cyst was removed...she had a tat artist compose a picture of a birthday party setting with (colorful) balloons and ice cream with a cherry on top and a cake with lighted candles. It was soooo unique with Happy Birthday and her name across it.
There was a lot of work involved in it. It was very Colourful and the cake was strawberry cream with a brilliant red cherry on top.

Me thinks it was very painful! OUCH!!

People are ignoring this and tatting EVERYWHERE...EVERYTHING!
They do experiene "torn tissue" the blend it end somehow and get the "TAT" of their dreams. I met someone else who has done it. She said the man "Tat Artist" told her about the risks...but she agreed to go on through with it.
Quite frankly...it looks great!

Plus, I was fatter... It is located on my lower back. If I were younger and wore low-cut jeans it would be able to be seen. Used and made by all Southwestern Indian tribes, fetishes are objects which represent the spirits of animals or the forces of nature. Original fetishes were simple stones (or shells, turquoise or bone) which seemed to resemble people or animals, sometimes made more realistic by a carver. The Zuni people have the reputation of being the most skilled at fetish carving.

Hi Neckless. As I'm getting older I'm getting more adventurous... I am hankering for a second tattoo now. I have a couple of scars, but because of where they are located (my shins) I don't have any plans to cover them. I want to look lady-like when I wear a skirt...

Regarding the word "fetish". There are 3 definitions and I think that you and BikerBettyBoop were using different ones. According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, Biker was referring to definition #1 and you were referring to definition #2. We will not discuss definition #3 as it is not appropriate here.

FETISH:
1. an object (as an idol or image) believed to have magical powers (as in curing disease)
2. an object of unreasoning devotion or concern

I hope that this clears up any misunderstandings, ladies.:)

Personally, my desire for a tattoo does not quite qualify as a fetish for myself. I see it as a whimsical idea, a fun way to be a little rebellious, a way to express my individuality. Whether I get another one or not, it's no big deal....

A few evenings ago...A lady about your age came through the streets of Belize riding on a motorcycle with I will assume was her husby...while my Husby and I were dining on the verandah (porch) at one of the local seafood restaurantes here. There are so many tourists here this time of the year. They drive here in their 4x4's and transport the cycles on a trailer. My first thought was..."That could easily be BBB"! The lady had a long ponytail with little rubber bands every 2 or 3 inches apart.
I think rebellious and even cocky (in a good way) when I see a woman on a motorcycle. But you see women driving BIG trucks...operating heavy machinery...welding...etc. A woman picks up the trash here...driving a BIG truck.

AWESOME!! I may take up the motorcycling skill. I really like them!

Hi Neckless... that's funny that seeing the lady on her motorcycle reminded you of me. I've had other people say the same thing to me.

I know several women who ride motorcycles and my advice is to take a motorcycle riding class and get your license and purchase a motorcycle that is ideal for your size and experience level. A lot of people start out with bikes that are way too big. I suggest buying a smaller bike, gain riding experience on that bike and then graduate to a larger bike. That's what I did and I am sure happy that I did.

I bet you do have a lot of tourists there this time of year. Hope they don't drive you too crazy... LOL!!

I've had my thoughts about working the BOOPER into one of these.
OUCH!! Did that hurt much living booper?? Honestly??http://www.tattoojohnny.com/search.asp?k=lower%20back

Tattoos can be painful, but not so painful that it stops people from happily coming back to get tattooed again. It helps to get your tattoo while you are well rested and nourished. Everyone has a different tolerance for pain. Most people say that getting tattooed is no big deal at all. Some can find it more difficult. Despite the discomfort, most people who are happy with their first tattoo usually get tattooed again.

Tip - Some spots are more sensitive than others. Despite the pain, it's important not to let this affect your decision. Because you will have your tattoo for the rest of your life, it is best to get exactly what you want, exactly where you want it. Long after the pain is gone, you might wish your tattoo was in a better spot. If you get your tattoo in just the right place, for years to come you'll be proud you made the right decision.

Bikerbettyboop
06-28-2006, 01:27 PM
Hi LivingB!! I love your tattoo.. she is beautiful on your back and I bet it did hurt and that is probably the major reason that I don't want to get one. I just don't deal well with pain.. just a true blue scaredy cat here!!

Neckless how did you find this website for tattoos? That's awesome! Some are really beautiful aren't they?

But I'm like you... preference would be for a BB tatt if I ever got brave enough!

livingbooper
06-28-2006, 04:53 PM
Thank you BikerBB and Neckless!

Of course, me being me, I picked a fairly large one for my first and positioned it on what is generally considered a tender area. If you look closely you can see a ridge running down the center... that is my backbone. They say that it's supposed to hurt more if a tattoo is done over a bone.

I got through it with flying colors (no pun intended).
For the first couple of minutes it felt like a burning/stinging sensation. But, oddly, after the first couple of minutes you get used to it and it doesn't really hurt that much at all. In fact, eventually it kind of felt like a massage kind of thing. It wasn't so bad at all. I figure, if I could get this big one done in such a sensative spot, then I could handle any others I should choose to get any in the future. Any future ones will be quite a bit smaller....

Ha ha... kind of... If I get another one it will be a piece of cake.
From what I've heard, though, it is common for a person to get used to the needle after the first couple of minutes.
My only regret is that I wish the artist placed it a little higher... maybe it would get seen from time to time. Perhaps when I lose the weight I want to and get brave and wear a bikini again????

Sophia1002
06-29-2006, 04:19 AM
It is really hard for me to get a tattoo because I am not brave enough.
But it is true that people will get used to the needles after the first couple of miniutes. However, it is quite a big decision and need a lot of courage to do the first needles.....

Bikerbettyboop

livingbooper
06-29-2006, 12:23 PM
But it's not so bad... the pain kind of goes away... and there are areas that are less sensitive than others. I picked a touchy area and I was okay... But then again, I really wanted this tattoo so I was willing to put up with the first couple of minutes.
One thing's for sure... You had better LOVE the artwork you put on your body because you are STUCK with it....

well I'd have to find a pain free zone and I don't think there's such a thing... unless they put me out... hahah!

the best place or should i say pain free place is where u have the most fat calf, arm, ect. The ankel and shoulder (depending on the person) are too boney and hurt the worst. My aunt tried to get a rose on her toes to cover some corns she has on each one but she couldn't get through it she said it hurt to bad lol. I hope to get one soon i'm gonna get a special made one i thought of, and i thought of a betty one but i may get wonder woman instead cause too many ppl have betty lol but i'm not sure yet. wonder woman was my first hero.

thanks for the advice about placing a tattoo on a fatty part instead of a thin skinned part close to a bone. But I still don't think I could handle it .. fat or not!! LOL!!

Wonder Woman huh? I used to sell Wonder Woman items and I still have some Wonder Woman inventory.

I love roses and I'm considering a rosebud on my shoulderblade... This would be MUCH SMALLER than my Betty Boop one. Of course, it will be in a discreet location where I could hide it or show it depending on the top.

Yes, I probably will. There are a number of shops in this area, but he was recomended to me by a neighbor friend.
He is an older guy and is more "old school". He tatoos really deep so your colors won't fade. He has a chart on one of his walls that explains kind of scientifically the exact depth to put the needle so that the pigment will be sharp, clear, and the stay color bright. Tattoo artists are just that... artists. Some are better than others.

Lizzy, I'm glad to hear that you found an artist that you trust and are comfortable with. Sounds like he is experienced and will provide just what you want.

This sounds like a huge OUCH!!! But I can also understand why this would be better...as you DO PAY for what you get! I would want mine to be sharp and clear...with LONG lasting color too!

You're right, Neckless. This would be cool. But because of the detail it would also have to be BIG. (I learned this while I was designing mine- more detail = more size...)

Makes sense. I have an orange rose....with a petal falling. I want a BB and I'm through with them.
