Betty Boop on the Big Screen

Hi Boopers,

Just wanted to let those of you in the San Francisco Bay Area know
about some screenings of Betty Boop for President (1932) next weekend, May
6-8, at the historic El Campanil Theatre in Antioch, CA. We are
presenting the film in the original 35mm from Paramount, followed by our feature film: Breakfast at Tiffany's. Showing Friday @ 7:30, Saturday @ 7:30, and Sunday @ 2pm.

The Sunday show is FREE for Moms in celebration of Mother's Day.

While BB is still an important icon I don't think she commands the popularity for a major movie right now.

You really think she's not that popular? I have to disagree.... I mean look at all the animated movies that Pixar and Disney and other studios have put out over the years!! Who knew that Shrek would be popular enough to command 3 movies?? And how about the penquins?? And the Cars and other animated movies? They all do well just because they are animated.

I really really really believe that if a Betty Boop movie was put out there, her recognition factor would be immediate and people would go see it just because she is Betty Boop! And if it was geared more towards young people and teenagers, that would be even better!

I think you'd be surprised Lowell as to how many young people know who Betty Boop is and they've never even seen one of her cartoons.
