Why does betty Boop not give permission to anyone to make sig tags? I have an msn group, and have been a designer for 3 years. I love Betty! Love to make her wink, blink, dance, ETC... I respect all artist. love them. Would follow any directions. So why????

We are allowed to use Betty Boop images for our own personal use. I'm not sure I understand your question Gator?

My understanding is that King Features allow the use of official Betty Boop images for non profit purposes.

Images used commercially need to be licensed.

You can make your own Betty Boop images, but you cannot distribute them without King Features' approval. Whether you can hand them out to your friends is a tricky question. I suppose it depends on how many friends you have :)

There is a very good reason for this. The quality of Betty Boop images is excellent, and should remain so. I, for one, would be most unhappy to see a flood of second-rate drawings - and the Web can easily be used to flood images.

If I've got anything wrong here I'm sure mgchan will set me right.

I think that you are 100% correct in your statements Moocher!

It drives me crazy when I see people selling unlicensed merchandise or sending gifs etc that aren't legal!! It's one of my pet peeves... hey I need to post that on the 5 pet peeves thread!!

I think she would need permission from King Features to do this. Betty Boop's image is copyrighted and its use is controlled. My understanding is that if Betty's image is used for any commercial purpose even on a very small scale, then the image must be licensed and approved.

I think this is fair enough. If you are making cash from a Betty Boop image then the owners of that image are entitled to their share.

For all I know, the lady in question does have permission and everything is cool. If not, she could find herself in trouble.

I am not sure that she does have permission.
I recently checked her store and it is out of her home and she makes them out of wood.
I was highly disappointed when I received it....looks nothing like betty.
She has extremly fat legs....nothing wrong with some meat on legs but Betty did not have meaty legs.
