Husband with cancer!

Please keep my hubby in your prays, because of his cancer. We have a pile of medical bills that will never get paid, because of it. The cancer society will not help either. I read bettyboop68 post in the million dollar thread and said she would donate to the cancer society. I use too, but will never again, because they will not help us out. We have no medical insurance either. It is very hard to get it with a exsisting condition.

I myself am a cancer survivor,but our medical care system is different here and i shudder to think that you cant get treatment simply because you can't afford it.When i was diagnosed i thought my world had fallen apart,but my husby was immense,he was such a rock.He gave me hope when all i could see was despair,he took everything i threw at him and gave it back tenfold in love and tender care.I know what that cost him emotionally,and i will never forget what he did for me.And i feel it was as much him as my treatment that got me through it.He is the best!..And i am sure this is exactly how your husby sees you.You are there for him and that is the best any of us can do for anyone.My thoughts and best wishes are with you both...

my grandpa has cancer too and i know what its like my step mom don't me that i didn't even care about him just cuz i never went to see him. so i got in her face and i told her that i never knew how long my grandpa had to live. my uncle told me not my dad. its going to be a year that i lost my grandpa and i still can't get over it. i really hope and pray that you husband makes it through this. be stong for him right now he needs you more than ever

Our medical care system is different here too. Mgchan has a good point. Don't waste time. Check around at some of the local hospitals for assistance in this matter.

Surely there are a couple or three that will and can help you with these expenses. Meanwhile, I wish your husby and you the BEST!

Hi Candles,
I was surprised to read that you can't get SSI for little Eddy. I am not sure if it is different in every state or what. But I was told that you will always be told no the first time but if you reapply for SSI you will be approved. My daughter was turned down the first time and I reapplied and she was approved. It is alot of paperwork and doctor visit after doctor visit!
I understand also about the NICU bill! She was in for 18 days and her bill was over $180,000!! Good luck Candles I hope all works out for you and little Eddy!

I can't believe that they won't help you. Biker Babe Home Interiors has a very good fundraiser program that you can probably do. What you have to do is verify if your cause is a good cause for tax purposes so that you dont have to pay for them. If you want more information I can talk to you about it and explain it. You can still do the fundraiser but may have to pay for the taxes. If you are interested in finding out let me know. ;)

Thank you all for caring. We have tried to go back to the cancer society several times with no help. To answer some of your questions: hubby and I have no family in any other country except the US, I wish we did live in another country, it would make it easier for us. We are trying to get thru it as best as we can.

My family is not rich so we are unable to get any money from any of them. Maybe someday I will win the lottery, if I play it, when I have extra money. My hubby has no living family left, just 2 sons which can't help either. We are both working and trying to make ends meet.

If anybody comes up with some other ideas, please let me know!

You mentioned that you contacted the American Cancer Society and they weren't able to help? I am surprised by that because they assisted me with my father's healthcare when he had cancer. They didn't give him money but they provided a hospital bed and oxygen for him. You may want to try again asking them for assistance and if they can't help, ask them if they can refer you to other agencies for help. You may want to consider a hospice organization for help too.

I know that you are going through a difficult time and I pray that all goes well for you.

Here is an update!

The cancer sociey will not help out to pay bills because according to them we make too much money! LOL! I can barely pay my bills with the money we make!
They told us this last time also. It is very depressing. The medical bills just don't get paid, that's all. My other bills come first. I was out of work for 4 months and he was out of work for almost a year! With no insurance, it is very hard to deal with.

Right!! I know that is true. Hubby was in that same boat!!:) So to speak, we took unemployment for a week, the the next week he got a job.

I took on babysitting for some friends for the summer, maybe you could find something small to bring in some money while you wait for that gran job to bite you in the pants!!!

I have no friends or family around that can or will help. My family live in PA and I live in FL. Nobody in my family has money and the ones that do I would never ask. I guess I will have to try to do this on my own, if I can. It is very hard not being able to pay all of the bills. :(

Hi Biker Babe.. I'm sorry that your family isn't closer to you if only to help with moral support right now. Have you tried contacting your creditors and asking them to help you during this time of financial crisis? Perhaps you could suggest to them that they work with you or you might be forced into bankruptcy if they aren't cooperative.

Are you involved with any of the motorcycle rider's clubs there? Perhaps you could ask them to host a fund raising ride for your husband to help out with medical costs and bills etc. I know we have them out here from time to time when a fellow rider is in need.

We aren't a member of any bike club. Sometimes I wish we were, we have only lived here since September of 2004, so we are still getting to know people.

Just a wild guess here...
I mean...you live in the USA...aren't there any EMERGENCY Assistance Centers or Crisis Centers for this type of unpreventable need?

I hope there is...and you can get EMERGENCY assistance.

Gee Biker Babe... it sounds like things couldn't get much worse for you! If there aren't any local agencies that can assist you .. how about state agencies? Even though you don't belong to a motorcycle club, you could contact one... like the Christian Motorcycle Association and ask for their assistance or some direction in helping you financially. Motorcycle people are a good bunch of folks and often are the first to have their hands in their pockets helping out fellow riders. If nothing else, contact your local tv station, radio stations, newspapers and ask them for help in covering your story. Don't give up reaching out for help!!

I always wonder what the new year will bring to me... do you wonder about it too? I know there will be sadness and happiness both.
