Me and my Mum have alway want to go to New York, just me and her and i wanted to know if anyone from New York or who has visted there know the best places to go!!!!!!

I have only been to NY city once many years ago, there is so much to see there! You could go to a broadway show in the evening, which are really nice. Also you could go to a museum, there are a lot there. Also try taking the subway, it only cost about $2.00 per person, to get where you want to go. Cabs are so expensive there. When you get to your hotel, ask for a tour map. They carry them. Have fun!

Here's a list of suggestions and things you can do, some may be repeats by other members. I've also grouped them by location.

- Purchase an unlimited Metrocard and use the subway & bus to get around the city.

Ferry Ride:
- Visit the Statue of Liberty, maybe also Ellis Island. Ellis Island is where all of the immigrants to the U.S. came in first. May not appeal to everyone.
- Take a ferry ride around Manhattan (New York City).
- Visit the Intrepid Aircraft Carrier with loads of planes on the deck.

Downtown:
- Visit Chinatown. Also walk along Canal Street, full of street vendors.
- Visit Little Italy
- For shopping & artsy stuff, visit SoHo and NoHo.
- Washington Square Park.

34th Street:
- Shop at Macy's.
- Go up the Empire State Building.
- Plenty of shopping along 34th Street.

5th Avenue:
- Visit Rockefeller Center.
- Visit St. Patrick's Cathedral.
- Visit Tiffany's.
- Visit FAO Schwartz (upscale toy store)
- Visit Central Park & Central Park Zoo.
- Take a horse carriage ride around Central Park.
- Visit the museums, ie - Museum of Natural History, Metropolitan Museum of Art.
- Plenty of stores along 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue.

42nd Street:
- Visit Times Square. Looks fantastic at night.
- Visit Toys 'R Us (the largest toy store in the U.S.).
- See a play, ie - Mama Mia, Wicked, Lion King. You can get discounted tickets at TKTS.
- Take a tour of the United Nations (UN).

Well I am from New York and I have been here all my life :D There are tons of museums, theaters, shops you name it we have it :D There's the statue of liberty, central park and so on, and so on. You can see the world famous rockettes at radio city music hall :eek: and of course we have the New York Yankees :D oh and not everyone in New York is rude :eek: there are tons of friendly people and we are protected by the finest police force in all we are the big apple hope you come and visit real soon let me now how your experiences are when you visit :)
