Hi - I know there are alot of you out there, like me, who watch too much tv.
I thought it would be fun to start a new game. TV Trivia.
The rules are simple. Ask your question. If nobody gets the answer right in 24 hours you have to supply the answer.
If you know the answer you can ask a new question but even if you do not know the answer you can ask a new question, just as long as you promise to come back the next day to give us the answer.
First Question
Name all of the Castaways on Gilligan's Island ( Charachter names not the actors )
You are thinking that this is easy..... Not so fast..... First and Last names please.
John

Oh my Lord and Taylor, Candles you are good.
For years we asked people what was the name of Mrs Howell. We just assumed that she was always called "Lovey" or Mrs Howell.
I had read the answers in a Gilligan's Island book and had to ask.
Part of this is a trick question as there are two answers that are not found on the TV Show.
The pilot was filmed with a different actor playing the Professor, a different actress playing Ginger and a charachter named Bunny instead of Mary Ann.
It sat on the shelf for thirty years before it was aired.
You might see it in print that Gilligan's first name is Willy. This is also a trick question as he was never referred to by his first name on the TV show or the pilot. There are press releases that referred to him as Willy Gilligan so you might find it listed somewhere.
Next Question is much easier.
Jim Backus played Thurston Howell III. He is also famous for his portrayal of a near sighted cartoon charachter. What is the Cartoon Characters Name?

M A S H stands for Mobile Army Surgical Hospital if I recall correcty.
Lets see
Hawkeye Pierce - Alan Alda ( Donald Sutherland movie )
Trapper John - Wayne Something ( Elliott Gould movie )
Radar O'Reilly - Gary Burghoff - the only actor to play the part in the movie and the TV Show
Hot Lips Houilhan - Loretta Swit ( Sally Kellerman movie )
Jamie Farr ( can't remember charachters name )
MacLean Stevenson ( can't remember charachters name )
after MacLean Stevenson and Trapper John left .......
B J Hunnicutt and Sherman Potter were added.

I remember now. Jamie Farr played Corporal Klinger. He is the one who wore women's clothes in order to get a section eight, which would get him kicked out of the army because he needs psychiatric help.
Oh and Wayne Rogers played Trapper John.
There was later a TV show called Trapper John MD with Pernell Roberts playing Trapper John later in life.

I do not have the answer to the Barbara Eden question but I have another related question.
In the TV show "I Dream of Jeannie" who plays Jeannie's "Master" and name the tv show that later made this actor a star and the charachter he portrayed.

Silly you answered part of the question already: Answers, Barbra Eden plays the role of Jeannie, of the TV Show "I Dream of Jeanie" her husband played in one episode, Jeannies mother on the show was Florence Sundstrom, Larry Hagman was her Husband, aka Anthony "Tony" Nelson.

There that answers both of our questions.

Moving on.....

Boopfan713
02-21-2005, 07:10 PM
I did not know that Larry Hagman was Jeannie's Husband.
He is also the answer to the question I posed ... Jeannie's Master .... Larry Hagman was later the star of the show Dallas.... He played J R Ewing.... Do you remember the big controversy.... Who Killed JR? That is not the question.... The question is....
Who is Larry Hagman's Mother and what was her biggest role?

larry's last name was fine, and curly joe

Boopfan713
02-24-2005, 05:45 PM
The names of the Three Stooges are.....
Moe Howard ( Moses Horwitz )
Larry Fine ( Louis Feinberg )
Curly Howard ( Jerome Horwitz )
When Curly's health forced him to leave his big brother Shemp Howard (Samuel Horwitz) returned to the Stooges ( Moe, Shemp and Curly are brothers ) Moe, Larry and Shemp were originally vaudeville performers, when Shemp left he and Moe recommended their baby brother. The Columbia Shorts were very popular in movie theatres as television was in it's infancy.
When Shemp died in 1955 he was replaced by Joe Besser.
After Columbia Pictures stopped filming the shorts Joe Besser quit and was replaced by Curly Joe DeRita ( Joseph Wardell was his original name )
Moe, Larry and Curly Joe did not film any "Shorts" but made full length motion pictures and made personal appearances.
After Larry had a stroke while filming in 1970 there was talk of replacing him but they never filmed another episode.
Men seem to be much bigger Stooges fans than women so test them to see if they know the answers.

As Boop This tells us, the Flintstones were originally called the Flagstones (I did not know that) but since the funny paper's Hi and Lois had the last name of Flagstone it was changed.
The Flintstones were based on the most popular tv show on at that time... The Honeymooners.... Ralph Cramden ( Jackie Gleason ) and his wife Alice were joined by Ed Norton ( Art Carney ) and his wife Trixie.
Fred is based on Ralph, Barney is based on Art Carney.
Mel Blanc provided the voice to Barney Rubble. He is without question the greatest cartoon voice ever. He was the voice of Merry Melodies - Loonie tunes and gave us.... Bug Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Sylvester and Tweety, Taz, Roadrunner, Pepe Lepew and Marvin the Martian. He was also the voice of Woody Woodpecker.
Bea Benaderet was the voice of Betty Rubble. You may have seen her on the TV Show Beverly Hillbillies where she played Jed's Cousin Pearl Bodine who was Jethro's Mom. She later went on to Petticoat Junction in the town of Hooterville.

Boopfan713

Buddy Ebsen played Davy Crockett's sidekick on Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Disney. He played Jed Clampett on the Beverly Hillbilly's and played Barnaby Jones on the TV show Barnaby Jones.
What major motion picture was he scheduled to appear in...
What Charachter was he to play in this picture and....
Why did he have to drop out of this movie....

He was cast as the scarecrow in the wizard of oz,but changed roles with Ray Bolger, who was cast as the tin man.Buddy became ill because of the make up and the role went to Jack Haley instead .Is that correct boopfan?

Boopfan713
02-25-2005, 12:34 AM
Scotbooper is correct.
Buddy Ebsen was cast as the Tin Man for the Wizard of Oz. He went through weeks of rehersal but when they started filming he was rushed to the hospital. It turned out that he was highly allergic to the aluminum powder used in the make up.
You can actually hear him in the movie as they recorded the song "We're off to see the Wizard" prior to filming the movie.

Santa Claus Trivia
We had asked co workers what Santa's wife was named. Someone said Martha, and said they saw it on Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. She was mistaken Santa referred to her as "Mama" not Martha.
I often see people refer to Santa's wife as Mrs Claus. This is actually incorrect. Santa Claus's last name is not Claus. Santa is Spanish for "Saint"
Claus is short for Nicholas. Santa Claus is a variation of Saint Nicholas ( If you do not believe me say Saint Nicholas ten times fast. You will end us saying Santa Claus. ) Santa's real name is Kris Kringle so her name would be Mrs Kringle. His title is Santa Claus, another title is Father Christmas.
Santa's second wife is named Brenda. David Letterman pointed out Brenda to the viewing audience but it looked like a staff member in a elf costume. I have not found another source to confirm this.
Santa has a brother Keith ( again this was from a David Letterman top ten list )
Santa has another brother Kevin Kringle. You may have seen him on the Best Buy TV ad campaign.
Santa was real mad at his nephew Keith who borrowed his sleigh to grab a pack of cigarettes and crashed it. This almost caused us to miss Christmas. (Once again the source of this info is David Letterman)
Rudolph's girlfriend was Clarice ( from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer )
The Elf who wanted to be a dentist was Hermie ( for years we thought it was Herbie but we listened very carefully and confirmed what the CVS ornament said. )
The Island of Misfit Toys
The Jack in the Box was named Charlie. "Nobody wants a Charlie in the Box"
The Cowboy rode an ostrich not a horse.
The elephant had spots.
The Choo Choo train had Square Wheels.
We never figured out what was wrong with Misfit Dolly. They never said what was wrong with her.
Blitzen Broke his leg which almost forced Santa to cancel Christmas. He said that "All of the other reindeer" would have to have to pitch in. Olive the Jack Russell Terrier ( played by Drew Barrymore ) Thought Santa said "Olive the Other Reindeer"
The postman would write Hate mail to Santa Claus because he had to deliver so many packages at Christmas time. He tried to get Santa to cancel Christmas. ( Dan Castenella was the voice of the Postman on Olive the Other Reindeer. He is also the voice of Homer Simpson. )

Hi Lil Miz Naughty - on this thread we ask questions about what happened on tv. Anyone can answer if they know. If nobody knows then the person who asked the question has to answer the question.
I posted answers to Santa Claus questions and Name the first name questions.
Whatchoo Talkin' Bout Willis? was the catch phrase that Arnold Jackson (played by Gary Coleman) would ask his big brother Willis (played by Todd Bridges)
on the TV show Diff'rent Strokes
The premise of the show was that Philip Drummond (played by Conrad Bain) promised his housekeeper ( who was dying ) that he would look after her kids. Arnold and Willis, who are from Harlem, move into a fancy penthouse apartment with Philip Drummond, his daughter Kimberly (played by Dana Plato) and the new housekeeper Edna Garrett (played by Charlotte Rae)
You may remember that Edna Garrett left Diff'rent Strokes to play the same charachter in the show The Facts of Life, where she worked for a private school for girls.
Gary Coleman was recently employed as a security guard. Arnold Schwartzenegger was not the only actor to run for Governor of California in the recall election, (nor was he the only Arnold) Gary Coleman was also on the ballot and finished eighth.
Dana Plato is a sad story. After Diff'rent Strokes, she had some trouble with drugs. She was arrested for robbing a video store in Las Vegas. When police asked the clerk if she could describe the robber she said "It was Kimberly Drummond from Diff'rent Strokes" Dana died from an overdose of painkillers at age 34.

Candles you certainly know your Stooges. As a general rule, men think the stooges are comic genius's and women think they are morons.
I forgot to give the answers to the David Letterman Trivia
The first guest on Late Night with David Letterman ( NBC ) was Bill Murray.
The only guest host ever on Late Night with David Letterman ( NBC ) was Larry "Bud" Melman. His guests that night were Jack and Elaine LaLane. Jack LaLane was an exercise guru for years. Larry "Bud" Melman was a short round person and it was hilarious to see him working out with Jack and Elaine. Halfway through the show David arrived because he did not think things were going well.
There have been a number of guest hosts on CBS as David missed alot of time while he was recovering from quadruple bypass surgery.
Larry "Bud" Melman was a charachter played by Calvert DeForest. NBC refused to allow The Late Show with David Letterman ( CBS ) to use the name Larry "Bud" Melman as they claimed it was their intellectual property.
Paul Shaffer was the leader of the Late Night with David Letterman Band (NBC) David referred to them as "The World's Most Dangerous Band"
When the show moved to CBS they were not allowed to use that title, again because it was NBC's intellectual property. They are now called Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra.
The Weather Girls had a hit song "It's Raining Men" This song was written by Paul Shaffer.
The final musical guest on Late Night with David Letterman (NBC) was Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
David was replaced by Conan O'Brien on NBC. ( Late Night with Conan O'Brien ) The leader of the band on Conan's show is Max Weinberg who was the drummer for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
The first guest on The Late Show with David Letterman ( CBS ) was Bill Murray, who was also the first guest on the NBC show.
The last guest on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson was Bette Midler. When Johnny retired his announcer Ed McMahon also retired. Ed was famous for his line...... "Here's Johnny" Paul Anka wrote the Tonight Show theme song.
Johnny was replaced by Jay Leno.

Candlesnboop

Who provided the voice for the original Chatty Cathy Doll?

Here is the answer:

June Foray

The original voice; circa 1959, is known to be that of June Foray, who also did the voice of Rocket J. Squirrel in the Rocky & Bullwinkle cartoons.
Maureen McCormick did the voice on Mattel's 1970 remake issue of Chatty Cathy. She can also be seen in a black and white TV commerical for the original Chattys along with her "Brady Bunch" sister; Eve Plumb.

More about June Foray...
That’s right, she’s the voice of Rocky the Flying Squirrel (and Natasha and Tweety Bird’s Granny and the Fairy Queen in Thumbelina and more than 100 other cartoon characters - listing attached). Today her voice appears as Mrs. Wilson on The New Dennis the Menace, as Granny and Witch Hazel in the upcoming film Space Jam with Michael Jordan, and in a dozen other shows. Whatever your age, you’ve heard June. And it all began in the 1940's.
June launched her career at the ripe old age of 12 as a radio actor. She meowed her way onto the movie screen in 1950 as Lucifer the Cat in Walt Disney’s Cinderella and recorded more than 35 children’s albums. Since then, she’s made television history as the First Lady of Animation. Her credits run the gamut of Toon Land from witches and grannies to Ghostbusters and Smurfs.
But June is more than just a magical voice. She is teacher, author and advocate. June supports many environmental organizations and encourages student film makers. As a Governor of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (the Academy Awards organization) for 16 years, June chairs the Student Academy Awards Committee which honors short films by college students throughout the United States and Europe, as well as being a Governor of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (the Grammy Awards). June taught voice artistry at the University of Southern California and served as president of the Animated Film Society. It’s no wonder that many cities have declared June FORAY DAY's - she loves to encourage and help young people around the world.

I love June Foray. I am a huge fan of Rocky and His Friends..... which was later renamed the Bullwinkle Show
The Cast
Bill Scott .... Bullwinkle - Mr Peabody and Dudley Do-Right
June Foray ... Rocky - Natasha Fatale ( the femme fatale ) - Nell Fenwick
Paul Frees ... Boris Badenov - Fearless Leader - Captian Wrong Way Peter Peachfuzz - Inpector Fenwick. Those of you old enough to remember the Beatles Cartoon show would be surprised to hear that he was the voice of John and George (when they were not singing which were the real Beatles)
Hans Conreid - Snidely Whiplash
Walter Tetley - Sherman
William Conrad played the Narrator ( You may remember him as the title charachter in Cannon, the title charachter in Nero Wolfe or the fatman in Jake and the Fatman )
The Narrator of Fractured Fairy Tales was Edward Everett Horton. You may remember him as Roaring Chicken the Medicine Man on F Troop
In the movie version of Rocky and Bullwinkle, Bill Scott's son was the voice of Bullwinkle ( Bill is no longer with us ) June Foray was Rocky. Boris was played by Jason Alexander ( the actor who played George on Seinfeld and currently is on listen up, not the Jason Alexander who was married to Britney Spears for two and one half days ). Natasha was played by Rene Russo. Fearless Leader was played by Robert DeNiro who reprised his famous line from Taxi Driver ... "Are you talking to me?"
In the movie Dudley Do-Right, Dudley is played by Brendan Frasier, Nell Fenwick is played by Sarah Jessica Parker and Snidely Whiplash is played by Alfred Molina.

My favorite scene from Rocky and Bullwinkle might be the board members meeting at Wossamatta U. They were having financial difficulties and were trying to come up with a way to raise money.
One of them said "Maybe we could ask Daddy Warbucks to send us some Money"
The second board Member said "You idiot, Daddy Warbucks is a cartoon charachter"
First Board Member then said "You mean ........ We're Real?"

I am sure that quite a few of you have seen All in the Family. It was huge in the Seventies and can be seen in reruns. Lets see how much you remember.

I am surprised that nobody knew the answers to the All in the Family Questions. Perhaps most of you are too young to remember this show from Twenty five years ago.
Archie Bunker was played the late by Carroll O'Connor.
The Bunkers lived at 704 Hauser Street in Queens NY
Norman Lear's first choice to play Archie Bunker was Mickey Rooney.
Jean Stapleton played Edith Bunker. She recently returned to CBS to play Marie's Sister ( Raymond and Robert's Aunt ) on Everybody Loves Raymond.
Sally Strothers played Gloria. She recently returned to CBS to play the Mom of Mark Addy's charachter.
Sally was a spokeswoman for the starving children in Africa. Southpark poked fun of her on the "Starvin' Marvin" episode. Cartman went to Africa with Starvin' Marvin and found Sally Strothers ( who had a bit of a weight problem at the time ) eating the food that was meant for the starving children.
Rob Reiner played Mike Stivic. All in the Family viewers know him as "Meathead" the name that ARchie called him.
Rob Reiner's dad is Carl Reiner.
Edith's cousin - Maude Findlay - played by Bea Arthur. Bea Arthur went on to play the title charachter in the tv show "Maude" a spinoff from All in the Family. She later starred in the "Golden Girls"
The Bunkers next door neighbors were The Jeffersons. They later had their own spin off show called "The Jeffersons"
Anne Meara's real life husband is Jerry Stiller. You must have seen him in Seinfeld as Mr Costanza, George's Dad. He later appeared in King of Queens.
Anne Meara's real life son is Ben Stiller, you may have seen him in Permanent Midnight, Along Came Polly, Zoolander, Starsky and Hutch or Dodgeball.
Allan Melvin played Sam the Butcher, who was romantically linked to Alice the Maid on the Brady Bunch ( i was surprised that the Brady Bunch thread starter did not know that )
Stretch Cunningham was played by James Cromwell. James Cromwell best known movie role was as Farmer Hoggett in the movie "Babe" he was nominated for an Oscar as best supporting actor, co-starring with the pigs, ducks, cats, and Border Collies.
Archie, who was known for his bigoted remarks, had to give the eulogy at Stretch Cunningham's funeral. Archie did not know his best friend was Jewish. It was odd to see Archie wearing a Yarmulke.

Mickey Gubitosi played "Mickey" on the Our Gang ( Little Rascals ) shorts by Hal Roach in the forties.
Years later - 1967 - Gubitosi - now going by a stage name, Robert Blake, played Perry Smith who murdered a whole family in the movie "In Cold Blood" which was based on the book by Truman Capote.
Blake was nominated for an Oscar for this role.
In 1975 Blake was the title charachter for the TV show Baretta featuring Baretta and his pet Cockatoo.
Blake was charged with murder when his wife, Bonnie Lee Bakely was shot to death. Last week Blake was aquitted.

Who is the Human Co Star?
What was the Original Name of Howdy Doody?

What post was Howdy Doody elected to?
What town did Howdy Doody live in?
What was the name given to the Studio Audience?
What was Howdy Doody's Twin Sister's name?
Chief Thunderthud had a Cry that was later used by a cartoon charachter. What was his cry and who else used that cry?

The original name of the Howdy Doody Show was Puppet Playhouse. This was the name of the radio program. When it went to TV they changed the name to the Howdy Doody Show. Debut Date Dec 27 1947.
The Human Costar was Buffalo Bob Smith. ( Richard Schmidt from Buffalo New York changed his name to Buffalo Bob Smith ) Buffalo Bob's kids never realised that he was Buffalo Bob. He was Dad and Buffalo Bob was some guy on TV.
The Canadian version of this show featured Timber Tom ( played by singer Robert Goulet )
The original name of Howdy Doody was Elmer ( radio show ) when it went to TV he became Howdy Doody which was short for Howdy Do? or How Do You Do? The first three episodes did not show Howdy as the puppet was not ready yet.
The original Clarabell the clown was Bob Keeshan who got his own tv show as the Title characher ( He was Captain Kangaroo )
Clarabell never spoke. He communicated with a horn. The only time he ever spoke was on the final episode when he said "Goodbye Kids!"
Howdy was forced to undergo plastic surgery. The creator of the puppet, Frank Paris, demanded a share of the merchandising rights for his puppet. NBC said no and Howdy spoke from inside his box for several episodes until a new puppet was made for the show. The new puppet was cuter and more human looking. The original puppet went on to become Peter Pixie.
Gumby, a green hunk of clay, was featured on the Howdy Doody show and later got his own show.
Howdy was elected President of all Kids.
Howdy's hometown was Doodyville. The mayor of Doodyville was Phineas T Bluster who was a mean man.
The studio audience was referred to as the Peanut Gallery.
Howdy's twin sister was Heidi Doody. I was playing Trival Pursuit one time and was asked this question. My answer was Judy Doody but this was incorrect. One time I was watching George Carlin on TV and he joked that Howdy Doody's sister was Judy Doody. I yelled at the TV. Hey - That is my joke.
Chief Thunderthud's call was Kowa-Bonga! Bart Simpson lifted this expression and changed it to Cowa-Bunga!
This was the early days of Television and there was not a Today show or Soap Opera's Yet. NBC would air a test pattern with a picture of Howdy Doody until the afternoon when Howdy Doody would kick off the NBC lineup.
Howdy "retired" after thirteen years on TV ( 1947 - 1960 ) There were 2343 episodes.
One time there was a fire in the workshop where Howdy Doody was stored. (He was not burned up, just some smoke damage) The Headlines in the newspapers said that Howdy Doody died in the fire. Buffalo Bob's sister received a number of sympathy cards. She had to explain that the puppet was in the fire, not her brother.

"ER" Emergency Room On NBC Thursday nights

Emmy Award-winning drama series “ER,” for its ten completed seasons, was television’s highest-rated drama among key advertising demographics for each of those seasons, a feat unprecedented in television history. Created by best-selling author Michael Crichton (“Jurassic Park”), the series centers on the medical personnel in the emergency room of a Chicago hospital. Crichton is also an executive producer, along with John Wells (“China Beach”) and Christopher Chulack.

Now in its 11th season and NBC's #1 program this fall, “ER” stars Noah Wyle (“Enough”), Laura Innes (“Deep Impact”), Mekhi Phifer (“Clockers”), Goran Visnjic (“The Deep End”), Maura Tierney (“Insomnia”), Sherry Stringfield (“NYPD Blue”), Ming-Na (“Mulan”), Parminder Nagra (“Bend It Like Beckham”), Linda Cardellini (“Scooby-Doo”) and Shane West (“Once and Again”).

A winner of the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award, the series has also earned 21 Emmy Awards and 112 nominations – breaking an all-time industry record. Also, the cast has won four Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Ensemble Performance in a Drama Series. “ER” was named Outstanding Drama Series at the Emmy Awards in 1996.

“ER” tracks the inner workings of County General Hospital, a Level One Trauma Center where heroic doctors and nurses are faced with life-and-death decisions on a daily basis. The staff is led by Attending Physician Dr. John Carter (Wyle), who, in his eleventh year at County, has risen to a role of respect and moral leadership in the ER. The chief of staff, Dr. Kerry Weaver (Innes), a tough and determined administrator, finds herself at a personal crossroads, trying to strike a balance between her life as a doctor and the life she now wants as a woman.

Also on staff are Dr. Luka Kovac (Visnjic), an ER attending physician from Croatia who is searching – sometimes self-destructively – for something to fill the void of his lost family and failed relationships; Abby Lockhart (Tierney), who recently made the professional transition from nurse to doctor, is making a serious effort to turn her personal life around; Dr. Jing-Mei Chen (Ming-Na), an attending E.R. doc who, having sacrificed so much for her work, is looking to lighten up and get out more; Dr. Susan Lewis (Stringfield), who after a few years away has readjusted to the emergency room and recently had a baby with a man she married in Las Vegas on a whim; and Dr. Gregory Pratt (Phifer), a brash, third-year resident with a checkered background that won’t stop haunting him.

Recent additions to the ER include Neela Rasgotra (Nagra), a British-Indian medical student who arrives in Chicago after finishing her undergraduate degree in biophysics and molecular biology at Yale. Samantha Taggart (Cardellini) is a nurse and spirited single mother determined to save lives in a place where nothing is taken for granted. Dr. Ray Barnett (West) has come aboard as a doctor who would sometimes rather be playing in his band than treating patients. He has a way with the ladies and a knack for making things go smoothly, most of the time.

One of my favorite actors was in the movie Fever Pitch. Lenny Clarke, a stand up comic from Boston, has also had a number of acting roles.
The first time I went to see Lenny as a stand up comic I was mistaken for the heckler, he told the waitress to give me a beer. I told him that he had the wrong person, he gave me some advice. "This is America, if someone offers you something for free you take it." I met Lenny at a charity event at the time he had his own sitcom "Lenny" He was the title charachter Lenny Callahan. The sitcom did not last long.
More recently he was the star of a series called "It's All Relative" Lenny was the Archie Bunker type Boston bar owner Mace O'Neil. His son was engaged to a Harvard Girl with two dads. Mace was a huge Red Sox fan, the other dads were devotees of the arts. This show was not on very long either.
Lenny was in a couple of great series which were co-written by Comedian Dennis Leary and writer Peter Tolan. He was in a series called The Job which was hilarious but did not get great ratiings. The same team now has a series on FX which stars Dennis Leary as a NY Fire Fighter. Lenny plays Dennis's Uncle Teddy.
Lenny has a brief role in the Farelly Brothers movie "Fever Pitch" He plays Ben's Uncle Carl who brings Ben to his first Red Sox game when Ben was seven. He warns young Ben. "They are gonna break your heart."
This is not the first time Lenny has worked with the Farrelly Brothers. He played a fire fighter ( fellow Boston stand up comic Steve Sweeney plays a policeman in the same scene ) in the movie "There's Something About Mary" They are called in when Ben Stiller accidently gets caught in his zipper.
Lenny also appears in the Farrelly Brothers "Stuck on You" which stars Matt Damon and Jeff Daniels as Siamese Twins. (Matt Damon would dispute this.... "We're not Siamese... We're American")

I miss the edit button.
The co-star of Stuck on You is Greg Kinnear ( not Jeff Daniels ). The term
"Siamese Twins" has fallen out of favor. The politically correct term is now
"conjoined twins" I used the term Siamese Twins because of the Matt Damon argument.
I have not seen the movie yet but it is on cable so I should be able to see it soon.

It was on my mind forever, and I wanted to share so here are the lyrics.

Popeye

I'm Popeye the Sailor Man,
I'm Popeye the Sailor Man.
I'm strong to the finich
Cause I eats me spinach.
I'm Popeye the Sailor Man.

I'm one tough Gazookus
Which hates all Palookas
Wot ain't on the up and square.
I biffs 'em and buffs 'em
And always out roughs 'em
But none of 'em gets nowhere.

If anyone dares to risk my "Fisk",
It's "Boff" an' it's "Wham" un'erstan'?
So keep "Good Be-hav-or"
That's your one life saver
With Popeye the Sailor Man.

I'm Popeye the Sailor Man,
I'm Popeye the Sailor Man.
I'm strong to the finich
Cause I eats me spinach.

Who did the voice of Popeye in the cartoons?

Originally in the first few cartoons, William Costello, aka, Red Pepper Sam did the voice. He was fired early on. The voice that is best known is that of Jack Mercer who was an in-betweener at the studio. He was responsible for all the mumbling and asides and the great Popeye laugh. Olive's voice was done by Mae Questel who also did Betty Boop's voice. Gus Wickie did the original voice of Bluto. During the war when Mercer was overseas, Mae Questel did Popeye's voice for 6 or 7 cartoons!

Hi There;
This just in. Salem Mass has approved the Samantha Statue. The 'Witch City" agreed to allow TV Land Station to erect a statue of Samantha Stephens. Samantha is aboard a broom flying past a crescent moon.
This was controversial as Salem was the site of the Witch Trials in 1692. The Puritans found 19 people guilty of practicing witchcraft and they were put to death by hanging. Some critics compared this to erecting a statue of Colonel Klink ( Hogan's Heroes ) at the site of a German Concentration Camp.
The Police cars have Witches on broomsticks and the nick name of the High School team is the Witches so most people are ok with this.
The statue will be erected in Lappin Park. This was a controversial decision since it is near the Salem Witch Museum and is near the site of the Witch Trials. Drawings of the Statue were shown to the people who were voting on this but they will not be shown to the public until the statue is unveiled in June. The timing of this will coincide with the release of the motion picture featuring Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell. ( The statue is based on Elizabeth Montgomery not Nicole. )
This is not the first statue put up by the TV Land Network. There is a statue of Ralph Kramden at an NYC bus terminal. There is a Statue of Mary Tyler Moore tossing her hat in the air in Minneapolis and a statue of Opie and Andy Taylor from the Andy Griffith show.
Astute fans of the Bewitched TV show might point out that the series takes place in Westport Connecticut but everyone here knows that Salem is the Witch City and several episodes of Bewitched were filmed here.

The sitcom did not last

You actually meet him?? Kool!!
