Well, I am trying to eat healthy. And my goal this year is to lose weight. I love salads anyway, and I like to eat different kinds. I love Chinese chicken salad, cobb salad, chicken caesar salad, seafood salad, spinich salad...well lots of different kinds. I actually do eat them at least 3 or 4 times a week.
But I must admit I do sometimes crave a hamburger lunch!:D

 I have not have A good and fattening cheeseburger in A long time. I have been really watching what I eat ever since my husband's been deployed and I have been exercising and I managed to loose alot of weight and drop eight sizes in clothes and I still have about 5 months to go before he comes home. I usually eat Lean Quisine dinners, salads, alot of fruit and I drink alot of water. One of these day's here soon I'm going to have to break down and eat A cheeseburger cause I really miss them.:P

Wow! Congratulations JennyBoop! That is great progress! I hope that i could do even half as well.
Soon I will be going to start a vigorous excercise plan and I hope to lose inches. Excerise is the best way for me to lose weight. If I dedicate myself I can (at least in the past) lose inches and tone up and can get really fit. Dieting alone doesn't work for me.
Good job Jenny!!!!!:D

Aw, Theresa, you're a little thing... I can't imagine the holidays affecting you at all! I'd give anything (almost) to have your girlish figure!:D

You know, after I starting taking 'the pil' I gained so much weight, danny's best friend was wondering if I was pregnant! All of the fat is going to my belly and my lovehandles. Any idea how to get rid of them?

Bikerbettyboop

I hate being on diets because it's hard to stick to it but avoid fatty foods and exercise... as much as you can. I try to walk and walk fast as often as I can.

livingbooper
01-09-2004, 02:32 AM
Yes, excercise is the key for me. Soon I'll have the workout room at the shop set up and I will try to be diligent and work off those inches. My goal is to lose at least 20 pounds and lots of inches. I cannot do it unless I excercise. Been there...done that... When I was much younger I tried all kinds of different diets. The problem was, when you went off the diet the weight piled right back on and usually was even worse than before.

You need to vary the type of excercise, too. Alternate aerobic activity (walking, biking, aerobics, or in my case an eliptical trainer) with strengthening excercises. I change what I do so I don't get bored. I have a couple of very good videos that I use, as well as using weight training, and now we have a new piece of equipment called the Crossbow (purchased at Sears) which is likew the Bowflex you see on TV. And of course, swimming is great excercise... in a couple of months!!!! Regular excercise increases your body's metabolism naturally so that it burns off most of the calories that you consume. Just eat healthy and watch your portions... the excercise will bring you where you need to be.
I find that I feel so much better when I get regular excercise. I get stronger, my bad back gets more support and is less likely to go out on me, I sleep better, and.... I look much better and feel more attractive. Just like Betty Boop! (Gotta love HER figure!;) )
The big trick is STARTING. Once I begin my program I start getting into it and it gets much easier as I go along. The first couple of sessions are really hard because I am out of shape and I tend to feel very achy and sore for a few days at first. But after a few sessions I start feeling very good afterward. At that point I really get into it and look foreward to the workout sessions.

But right now I am at square 1, and I need to start... Gotta get through those first couple of workouts.... This is really the hardest part....

I am finding that now that I have a computer I spend way too much time sitting there in front of it. Is that the case with you? It is much harder to lose weight with this more sedentary lifestyle... A regular workout at least 3 times a week is a must!!!!

Tineke, regarding your question... you are experiencing water weight gain. Despite how it seems, you should drink lots of water to hydrate yourself, but at the same time cut down on salty foods. And eat healthy and excercise.

Well, it looks like all of us here have overindulged during the holidays, and many of us want to shed those unwanted pounds. So that we can have cute figures that would make Betty Boop proud. I have an idea. Why don't we work on our diets and help each other out by being a support group for each other? That's what groups like Weight Watchers do.

I'll start a new thread and cut and paste what I've written here. That way we'll have a start. Hmmm... I think I'll call it Boopers weight loss support group.... I'll move this subject there, o.k.???

See you there!:D

Well I guess you could eat pancakes for lunch if you want? I know alot of people eat breakfast for supper sometimes. I know my mom use to make that sometimes for dinner:D And you know it really did taste good. Ahh I miss bacon and sausage and biscuits and gravy. Boy do I hate dieting.:(

livingbooper

Well, the question was posed as to whether there was a healthy food that tasted good.

I vote for salmon! I love salmon! And prepared properly it's low in saturated fat, full of protein, and has tons of Omega 3 fatty acids that are very good for you. And I feel that the taste of salmon rules!!!! Especially fresh broiled salmon with garlic! Yum!

I have a new delightful friend,
I am most in awe of her.
When we first met I was impressed,
By her bizarre behavior.

That day I had a date with friends,
We met to have some lunch.
Marilyn had come along with them,
All in all . . . a pleasant bunch.

When the menus were presented,
We ordered salads, sandwiches, and soups.
Except for Marilyn who circumvented,
And said, Ice cream, please: two scoops.

I was not sure my ears heard right,
And the others were aghast.
Along with heated apple pie,
Marilyn added, completely unabashed.

We tried to act quite nonchalant,
As if people did this all the time.
But when our orders were brought out,
I did not enjoy mine.

I could not take my eyes off Marilyn,
As her pie a-la-mode went down.
The other ladies showed dismay,
They ate their lunches silently, and frowned.

Well, the next time I went out to eat,
I called and invited Marilyn.
My lunch contained white tuna meat,
She ordered a parfait.

I smiled when her dish I viewed,
And she asked if she amused me.
I answered, Yes, you do,
But also you confuse me.

How come you order rich desserts,
When I feel I must be sensible?
She laughed and said, with wanton mirth,
I am tasting all that's possible.

I try to eat the food I need,
And do the things I should.
But life's so short, my friend, indeed,
I hate missing out on something good.

This year I realized how old I was,
She grinned, I've not been this old before.
So, before I die, I've got to try,
Those things for years I had ignored.

I've not smelled all the flowers yet,
There's too many books I have not read.
There's more fudge sundaes to wolf down
And kites to be flown overhead.

There are many malls I have not shopped,
I've not laughed at all the jokes.
I've missed a lot of Broadway Hits,
And potato chips and cokes.

I want to wade again in water,
And feel ocean spray upon my face.
Sit in a country church once more,
And thank God for its grace.

I want peanut butter every day,
Spread on my morning toast.
I want un-timed long-distance calls,
To the folks I love the most.

I've not cried at all the movies yet,
Nor walked in the morning rain.
I need to feel wind in my hair,
I want to fall in love again.

So, if I choose to have dessert,
Instead of having dinner.
Then should I die before night fall,
I'd say I died a winner.

Because I missed out on nothing,
I filled my heart's desire.
I had that final chocolate mousse,
Before my life expired.

With that, I called the waitress over,
I've changed my mind, it seems.
I said, I want what she is having,
Only add some more whipped-cream!

Here is a little something for you all!
We need an annual Girlfriends Day!

If you get this twice, then you have more than one girlfriend. Be happy.

PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO ALL OF YOUR GIRLFRIENDS.

"Be mindful that happiness is not based on possessions, power, or prestige, but on relationships with people you love and respect."

Yes, we have M&Ms in UK! I don't like the peanut ones though - not a big nut fan!
My favourite chocolate bar is Mars Bar! It's just so yummy! Especially when it's soft -don't ever put a mars bar in the fridge - it doesn't taste as nice!! I am an expert on this subject! And there is only one way to eat a mars bar - nibble the chocolate round the edge, the bite of the soft bit, leaving you with a strip of chocolate and caramel - oh my goodness!! Pure pleasure! haha! (See this is why you shouldn't get me talking about chocolate - especially when I'm on a chocolate fast for lent!!)

Don't get me wrong..it's a pretty cool place and they have great food and lots of fun there but I prefer other restaurants over Hooters and when we got to Phoenix, I'd rather go to Mexican restaurants. We just don't have them here in our teeny tiny town.

From this list I have to choose the unhealthy Hamburger and fries :)
I generally don't like chips/fries, though I do love the one's from McDonalds (luckily then there isn't a McDonalds too near me! *lol*).
I do like a hamburger but haven't had one in quite a while.
Haven't had a hotdog in years, though they're ok too.
I can't eat yogurts anymore because I used to take tablets in among yogurt and I can't even look at or say yogurt without getting the horrible taste in my mouth! Yuk!

I haven't been to the US, no, but it is a place I'd love to see all of :)
My mum has also wanted to go there - but more specifically she'd love to go to Graceland as she was a huge Elvis fan

Right, there's a lot to the US which is why I'd like to see it all :)
I'm quite like that about everywhere though - something probably isn't only as it's stereotypically known around the world, so I'd prefer to go there myself and see all the different "sides" of the country.

At least my mum has a more specific place she wants to see though - that's a cheaper option than mine! *lol*
But who knows, we might win some money or something someday ;)
