I looked at the terms of use (yes i am a computer nerd) and as of no where does it not say anything about not being able to send private messages!! If i may ask polietly to get this turned back on.

Also i have some concernst to address to you Mgchan: Since we are not allowed to add links of other web pages of Betty Boop are we also not allowed to add our own home web pages (that do not have anything of Betty Boop on them exept for other links inside that) this way we can let every one else view whom we are and where we are also and view pics of our families?? Are we also not allowed to put in our email address so every one else can chat on our own pen pals??

I am concerned that we do need to be using this web/forum in the way it is intended! I have fully and agree with the Terms of use and i have not nor will disgrace this chat forum but i do intened for others to know that they have the rights of what they can and can not do.

The answers to Private Messaging is here:

From the second link ' If the administrator has enabled the Private Messaging system...'

The vBulletin software that we've licensed to use for this forum has many nifty bells and whistles. It doesn't mean all has to be used.

Having Private Messaging or Private Chat Rooms is not appropriate for the Betty Boop forums. If members want to communicate with one another, then it can be done in a public and monitored environment, like the Chit Chat Lounge. This is a place for BB fans to have fun, make new friends and find out the latest on BB. It's not someone's private playground.

E-mailing between members has been turned off for similar reasons.

The decision for a member adding an e-mail address at the end of their posts opens up the risk of spam e-mails and unsolicited communications. Not every e-mail address link may be of good intent, i.e. - collecting e-mail addresses for a list. The one exception why a member would post an e-mail address would be for the purpose of mutually communicating offline between a member or members and not for the intent of soliticiting communications from all members. My advice is once the exchange of e-mail addresses or home addresses have taken place, the e-mail address should be deleted from the post.

Regarding links to personal Web sites, that is prohibited unless asked to do so, i.e. - a place of business in the vendor section. What's to prevent a member from placing inappropriate or offensive material on their site? If a member wants to share family photos or hobbies that can be done in the Chit Chat Lounge.

All members must keep in mind, this site is open to all ages.

It is our belief that not having Private Messaging, e-mailing to other members, showing member e-mail addresses and members linking to personal or other Web sites, does not take away nor detract from what this great site offers to BB fans.

I agree too that the forum is meant for members to use as a great safe communication tool.
