ooooh... good question.... and you came to the right place to find the answer to that question.

How about it Boopman... are you going to tell her about your book?

BOOPISQUEEN welcome to the forum and yes there is a book... it's written by Leonard Ellis AKA Boopman and his book has many collectibles in it.

Yes, indeed, you've come to the right place! Published last year, "The Definitive Guide to Betty Boop Memorabilia" is available through your local bookstore, or online, and probably through the store on this website. It has listings for about ten-percent of the over 3,000 documented BOOP items, and if you don't find what you are looking for there, you can post a question in this forum.

Also, for those of you who may be interested, I have sold in the past through the fan clubs, and will offer again, a copy of the original manuscript, which has all the items documented (no pictures, though, only text). It is approximately 160 pages, and costs about $15 to copy. For that price plus $5 postage, you can have a copy.

Is a second edition in the works???

Dear boopersfan,

Knowing how much i love betty boop my boyfriend called the aurthur of this book and asked when the next edition will be out, He replied " there will be no more books out by me". So sad for i have more items than what is in this book. I would love to know on how to go about finding items prices, for i know i have some that is real old.
So anyone with a idea ? please inform me. And i'm quite ne here so it takes me awhile to get anywhere on this site.
Betty46boop3;) :)

Hi Betty46boop3,
I don't recall getting a call from anyone about the second edition.... I have approached the publisher, and they are indeed having difficulty selling collectibles books, so they are not eager to get another on the press . .. so sorry!
HOWEVER, I'd be glad to help with trying to estimate an item's value for you, you just have to either post a picture, or send it to me direct. In addition, the book has about 300 items described and/or pictured, but the original manuscript, which was some eight years in the making, has over 3,000 items! I have sold copies of the manuscript through the fan clubs in the past, basically for the cost of the printing. It is 160 pages of text - no pictures, yes, that's right, 160 pages of descriptions, details, and price range of over 3,000 items... so you might want one.
Again, I would be very interested in seeing what vintage items you have.... you never know when something unique and previously unknown item will show up.
Best BOOP regards,
-Leonard

I would suggest you post photos of them here. Leonard might be able to give you an idea of their possible value. Also check often on eBay. :)

Had I known that you wrote the book boopman, I would have bought it from you so that I could have it authographed. What about the manuscripts, are you authographing them also?

I was just curious to know the rarity or price or even if I should consider insuring it ? Or is it something that is all over the place? I have never seen one or even heard of them....I have recieved from a friend from England a 20pound printed note from the bank of Betty Boop it looks amazinly (if thats a word)realistic and I can't seem to find any information what so ever about it? Any information would be greatly appreciated ... anything from where it's made or who by etc Thank you in advance for your time.

As far as I know, the only way to insure an item is to have an appraisal of it in writing.
For printed material, such as you described, unless it is something that can be authenticated, it is too easy in today's world to counterfeit or duplicate even a rare banknote.
Just from your description, this sounds like a novelty item, and as such, would not carry a high price. I've not heard of an item like this, certainly nothing from the 1930s has ever been described that matches this description, so my GUESS is that it is a modern novelty item.
BUT, if you would post a picture of it, with attention to details such as date, printer, etc, I'd be glad to look at it closer and do some research.
Besides, I'm sure all the fans would love to see a Betty Boop banknote!

It's a very wise investment and it's fun to look at all the pics and see the values and information too!
