the feves are done to celebrate the coming of the 3 men (kings gaspar melchior and baltazar) who went to see the birth of jesus:cool:
bakeries are working hard every year to improve their reciepies ! and there are 2 kinds of galette one made with almond paste it's the most sold out in the country and the one sold in Franche Comte (our region and the best of course) made like a pie with sort of cremy stuf spread on it ! when i have time i make some it's much cheapper and as good as the one you can buy !
today it's carnaval day something to do with religion as well i think it's when Jesus multiplied bread and fish and after that it's Careme don't have good things to eat during 40 days, i don't think lots of people do that nowadays, in our family we just try not to eat loads of pizza and stuff like that but our girls are not keen on religious things eventhough we tought them about it i think they'll be able to choose later when studies are over !

During carnaval day people put on strange clothes, Roxane went to school in a fairy dress with make up on her face this morning ! it's mostly for children but some towns also organise big carnaval
though not as big as Rio though !

 Wow, that is so interesting! That's neat about the feves representing the three wisemen( if I got it straight):D The Carnaval is kind of like the Marti Grau in Lousiana , in the southern United States, only for children. Only thing I don't believe that the Marti Grau is a very religious celebration. I don't know if it started out that way years ago, but it isn't that way now.:)
