When did Grampy come around in her cartoon's? What was Grampy to Betty? Was he her grandpa? Or was he just A friend? I really think he is cute, I love his thinking cap. Grampy had some crazy ideas. I watched video tape #5 last night Curtain Call and I would have to say that is probebly one of my favorites. Does anybody else have A favorite video from the Definitive Collection? :D ;) :P :cool: :)

Hi Jennyboop;
According to the Betty Boop 2003 year in a box calendar ( March 14th entry ) Grampy's first appearance was in the "Betty Boop for President" episode. He was introduced as an old fellow who works for the weather bureau.
According to the Heptunes guide to the Betty Boop episodes, this was the 36th Betty Boop cartoon.

Grampy's first appearance was in Betty Boop And Grampy which was released on August 16, 1935. Yes, he is Betty's grandpa.

Besides appearing with Betty in other BB cartoons, Grampy appeared in his own cartoon, Christmas Comes But Once A Year, which was released on December 4, 1936.

BTW, the box calendar is wrong. In Betty Boop For President, that happens to be just an old character with a beard. That was supposed to have be corrected on the calendar.
