:D
I finally took some pictures of our collection, both my wife and I have been collecting Betty for almost 30 years. I was able to photograph the figurines, dolls, and other displayable artifacts. Not shown are the pins, paper collectibles and Christmas ornaments (We put up a Betty tree every year).:) boopkid's Betty Boop Collection (http://img65.photobucket.com/albums/v199/boopkid/BettyBoopCollection/)

Enjoy! Let me know what you think. If there is any piece you would like a closer view of, please let me know which and I will try to post a photograph of it. Thanks,

Boopsie-Cola, boopcrazy and lilhommieb74, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! I am glad you liked the pictures and collection.

It has been fun collecting all these items through the years. I have met a lot of wonderful people along the way in doing so. Helene, Peppy, Leonard, Betty T., Denise, Barbara, and many more, you know who you are. Boopsie-Cola, I have no plans to sell my collection any time soon, we are still collecting. Believe me if I ever do, I will let EVERYBODY know.

Boopsie-Cola, the many "Kallus" looking dolls that you see are all repros. I only have one 1930's doll, which is in one of the pictures, it displays its original red heart sticker. :D

boopcrazy, boopsiegirl, Melissa Jones, and boopsie-cola,

Many thanks to all of you for your kind compliments on the "Stars and Stripes" Betty, yes she is very unique.

Melissa, I saw the ones on e-Bay, and yes those are all in black and they are made of bisque porcelain. Those are Vandor dolls that came out in the mid 1980's. It is a very desirable and delicate looking doll. I originally paid $50 for mine so the price on e-Bay is very reasonable. Vandor made two types, one in a black dress and a more rare one in a red dress. I have both of them, I had a hard time getting the red one. They came in a beautiful collectors box with Betty illustrations on the exterior of the box. The difference between the Vandor doll and the original Kallus dolls (made of wood and wood composition) was obviously the material used to make them and the size, 13" for the Kallus and 11" for the Vandor, plus the head on the Vandor dolls is attached to the torso, whereas in the Kallus doll it swivels. My "Stars and Stripes" doll is made of latex composition (does not brake) and the head swivels as in the Kallus doll, however size wise it is similar to the Vandor dolls. Well, enough of this history lesson. If you have any questions I would be glad to answer them.

My 4th of July was great. I went to see "Spiderman 2" with my family and then at night my wife and I went to see a rock legend, Bobby Vee. It was a great concert.

Hope you all had a nice one,

boopkid

Hi Boopkid.... welcome to the forum!! Lovely doll and a treasured collectible!!

I love any and all Betty Boop dolls!! Wish I had this one in my collection!

I spent my 4th of July with my family. We had a BBQ of burgers and dogs and then my mom, sister and her family and my husband and I watched firework shows from 3 towns that surround us. It's an annual event for us!!! We put on marching band music and have a great time!!! Before the fireworks show, we play horse shoes or bean bag games... we make home made ice cream and pies too! It's always fun and has now become a family tradition!

Hi Bikerbettyboop, Thanks for the compliments. It sounds like you had a wonderful old fashioned 4th of July picnic with family...What more could anyone ask for?

Hi Melissa, Yes, I highly recommend the Vandor doll, its a very classy and sweet looking Betty Boop! When buying on e-Bay make sure you read the descriptions of the items very carefully. Just a friendly tip.

Hi Boopkid... yes we had an excellent 4th of July celebration.

Thanks for passing on the tip to Mel about using care when dealing with eBay sellers. Don't get me wrong, I love eBay. I buy and sell both on eBay and have since 1998 but I have encountered some unscrupulous sellers... so your words of advice are the truth!!

Hi everyone, Yes that is true be careful on ebay I had a problem with someone that sold me a cross & it was broken. Most ebay sellers are good but you still have to be cautious. Talk to you soon Gina :)

Yes, ladies, enjoy what you have! Our collection is an old one and one that has grown over the decades. Collecting Betty has been a lifelong joy for us. No matter whether you have little or a lot, if it has made you happy, then that's what it is all about. I don't mean to show off with mine. I figure younger collectors can learn of older Boop treasures through me/us and the better we collectors are "versed on the subject of Boop" the more we can appreciate what we have and what we find. Happy Boop hunting,

boopkid

Every year since 1989, I've designed a Betty Boop Christmas card. This year due to hurricane Katrina, our Christmas will be a "scrappy" one. So I chose a favorite, but forgotten cartoon character from the 1930's named "Scrappy", well I couldn't leave Betty out altogether, so she is featured as a "prop" and highlight in the card. Our Betty Boop collection survived Katrina and this doll in "Margy's" hands is symbolic of its survival. The spirit of "Boop" is invincible, no matter how hard times may be. A blessed holiday and Christmas to all that visit this post.

Of course this collection survived Katrina, but the walls around it were damaged with mold created by wind driven water, luckily we did not flood. The collection has been carefully put away until repairs are made.

Hi Boopkid... I've been in semi retirement (actually working very hard with my shop) and haven't had a lot of time to visit the forum. Just wanted to let you know I'm sorry to hear that you were affected by Katrina but glad to hear that your collection survived ok.

I hope things will be better next year!!
